Amazing Guesthouse in Pankisi!
Nazy’s Guesthouse is exceptional! The room I stayed in was lovely, comfortable and spotlessly clean. Nazy was wonderfully hospitable-she helped me arrange transport, a guide and meals. I highly recommend the food here-easily the best food I had in Georgia!

To me this place is almost home
I’ve stayed here a number of times and it is always a pleasure! The guesthouse is cozy, the host is the loveliest person you ll ever meet and the food is really to die for. Recently I started using their conference room for work events and it is so comfortable! Previously we’d usually have to ask people from Pankisi to travel to different cities when organising an event but now there is a perfect space to hold meetings, trainings or other official gatherings. The space has plenty of day light, it is well equipped and the view of the picturesque mountains doesn’t hurt either. All in all I ll be there again soon and honestly I can’t wait.

A very special guesthouse
You immediately feel welcome here! Nazy is always there for her guests and speaks great English. The breakfast and the dinner are varied, very tasty and more than plentiful. The shared bathrooms and toilets are extremely clean. We were hiking and riding in the area. The Pankisi valley exudes a special atmosphere due to its inhabitants (and their history). We felt very comfortable there. The days end wonderfully with dinner together with the other travelers.

Michelin Guide rates places for years and three-star restaurants are “places with exceptional cooking worth a special trip for”. Using their methodology I would say that in terms of hospitality and customer service Nazy Guesthouse is 3 star experience which means this place is worth special trip to Georgia.

Homely, interesting, beautiful and delicious!
Spotlessly clean yet warm and inviting. We were welcomed into Nazys guesthouse by Nazy who was excited and proud to share her house, community and beautiful natural surrounds with us. Nazy went out of her way to accommodate our wishes – helping us understand the region, book horse riding, try local dishes, preparing us a packed lunch for hiking and organising a private taxi back to Tbilisi. The beds were the most comfortable in Georgia, every dish was amazing and the garden of the guesthouse was lush, green and relaxing, with bubblegum flavored grapes hanging off the vines. We felt like we got a great taste of this interesting and beautiful region because we chose to stay with Nazy.

Top-notch guest house experience in a culturally and environmentally unique location in Georgia.
The location is great; it is right in the middle of the Pankisi Valley. The fence gives just the right amount of privacy without cutting you off from the outside. The house and yard are beautiful and serve as a relaxing place to sit relax or read at any time of the day. The bathrooms and rooms are clean and tidy and the bedding is very comfortable. All the hosts are friendly and incredibly helpful in helping you get settled and plan excursions. The food is delicious, home-cooked, and served in large portions which make paying for meals at 10-15 lari an amazing deal. The tours guides the hosts partner with are incredibly friendly and knowledgeable.
I would have liked a bed side lamp for reading in the evening. I also would have found it helpful if the full-day and half-day tour listings included hour durations so that I could have better planned my time there. I was only able to spend time sightseeing on Saturday and left feeling I could have seen more of the valley if I had been able to coordinate my half-day tour option a little better.

Peaceful Retreat
If you wish to step away from stress, this is an excellent place. Even before arriving, the driver and people of the village in my marshrutka were so pleasant and welcoming.
Nazy and family are honest and
caring- it almost felt like staying with friends. The home was so peaceful, so restful, a proper relaxation in the mountains.
My request for vegetarian food was no problem at all- the food was so fresh and healthy, delicious.
My room (double) was elegant and beautiful, everything spotlessly clean. The showers always had hot water, also spotlessly clean.
Nazy arranged a horse-riding trek which was so enjoyable, spectacular scenery. It was so convenient to have it all arranged, with no hassle.
Nazy was available throughout my stay and had plenty of time to answer any questions, she is extremely reliable, kind and dedicated to her guests.
I want to go back, and for longer next time.

Great choice for a countryside get-away!
The guesthouse is perfect for a countryside get-away – the house has such a homey feel, every corner invites to take a time-out and relax. And their food – one of the best I’ve had in Georgia. And of course the heart of the guesthouse is Nazi with her family!

Without a doubt, my stay at Nazy’s was the highlight of my trip to Georgia. The guesthouse itself is top-notch – quiet, clean, with restaurant quality food – it makes you feel like home. But more importantly, it’s a unique cultural experience – you get to learn about Chechen / Pankisi culture, history and cuisine. Last but not least, you get to meet Nazy, who is a true inspiration in terms of what’s done for the local community.

This guest house is extremely beautiful, with a peaceful garden, under the grapes and beautiful and clean rooms. The food Nazy prepared was the best I ate in my whole two weeks in Georgia!! Nazy is very kind, helpful and professional, speaking perfect English. I had a great relaxed stay, pity it was only for one night. The house is very neat and with lot of details. Comfortable bed. Though the bathrooms are shared you feel it like a private one as it is so neat.Homemade food was delicious and various. The valley offers different activities to do and gives you the chance to know about the Chechenian people which are Sufi religion. I could did some mountain biking and on Friday morning I could attend to a Sufi ceremony at Duisi mosque.

A little oasis. Nazy and her family are excellent hosts. Their beautiful garden provides the fruits and vegetables which then land on your plate if you eat one of their homemade meals. The area is still kept under the radar and therefore calm. In the distance you can spot the mountains of Tusheti and if you arrive at the right time of the year, tours to that area can be organized for you. Otherwise, learning about the situation and culture of the Kist people is a very enriching experience. Nazy has been a trailblazer for grassroots tourism in Pankisi and is an inspiring woman with a lot of visions for the place and community she calls her home.

What can I say… When we arrived in Nazy’s guesthouse it felt like we were in heaven. Not only the place was super comfortable (the double room is pure awesomeness !), but Nazy was all the time available to help us organize guided tours of Pankisi valley, be it by horse or by foot, or to talk about Kist culture.
In the end we stayed for three days but we could have stayed forever. The tours were great, the guides and inhabitants of the valley were really nice and happy to share their culture and we have even been welcomed to the men ziqr (a sufi prayer/ritual that happens twice per week, once for men, once for women) then to the mosque for the final prayer.
After almost 5 weeks in Georgia, this guesthouse has been our favorite.
I could speak for a while about our stay but let’s make it short : GO THERE! ;

A magical place in the Pankisi Valley. Nature speaks of a magic far from the noisy world, but the experience I wanted to have was that of people. So with the help of my young guide I immersed myself and found beautiful people that I take with me.
I also take the Kist kitchen with me, since I think I put on a few kilos … but how could I say no to those delicacies?

The food was very good, breakfast and dinner stood out from the culinary monotony of other guest houses. Nazy supported us very well in our endeavors. B. arranges a contact to a ranger, who then led us through the local nature park for a day. Great place, great food, lovely people. Their garden is a paradise. Very clean and friendly. My only wish is that I could have breakfasts with meat and veggies and not so much on the sweet side…. But if you like pancakes with jam as most of the people do you will be delighted:) Dinners are amazing and i rarely say that as i’m quite picky when it comes to food. Nazy, thanks a lot for your kindness and hospitality! I forgot to mention – they serve organic milk and homemade butter and cheese. And even if i stopped eating milk products for health reasons some time ago – here i could not resist, so tasty was it all!

Wspaniała gospodyni, przepyszne, zdrowe i dopasowane do diety posiłki, najlepsze w całej Gruzji. Brak wifi, z jednej strony minus, a z drugiej plus, bo można trochę odpocząć. A w razie prawdziwej potrzeby – Nazy udostępnia hostspot. Łóżka mogłyby być nieco wygodniejsze.

What a wonderful oasis you have created at the base of the mountains. It has been lovely spending several days here. We wandered up to the old watch tower and then over to the amphitheatre. It was lovely to look down on the valley and see all the agriculture.

To come to Pankisi and your wonderful guest house was just the right decision. I stayed only for two nights but could have stayed much longer. Take advantage of the tours!
This guesthouse justly deserves its national award as the best community-based tourism establishment in Georgia. It’s not just the comfortable rooms, the beautiful garden and Nazy’s excellent cooking–but seriously, try all the food, it’s delicious! The big advantage of staying with Nazy is her ability to help you go out and meet the community as well.
Through her, I was able to hire a local teenager who spoke good English to take me on a day-long cultural tour of Jokolo and Duisi. Nika showed me the villages and their sights from a point of view that you can only get from someone who lives there and speaks Kist. We saw the local sites of worship, climbed up to a Soviet war memorial on the mountainside, and visited Zizi the craftswoman, who makes souvenirs from handmade felt.
The next day, I went horseback riding up into the Pankisi Gorge with Avto the horseman. He’s a charming fellow, and his mounts are well cared for, safe for tourists, and equipped with good tack. (Check out the design of the traditional Caucasian saddles!) The views from the high trails were magnificent. These were some of the best experiences I had in a wonderful vacation.

Nazy’s Guest House offers a high quality, comfortable, clean, organised and impressively equipped guesthouse experience located in a central location in the beautiful Pankisi Valley.
Nazy herself is a very well informed, professional and passionate host with positive entrepreneurial ambitions for the community and larger area of Pankisi. Nazy speaks fluent English and is well connected which is very helpful for organising tours, guides, taxi’s and bus schedules, she is also a wealth of information on the history, culture and geo politics of the region and bordering nations.
The food was delicious and the facilities; eating area, garden, bathrooms and bedrooms are well decorated, tidy, fresh and comfortable. Nazy’s family and staff are also friendly and helpful.
We enjoyed our short stay in Nazy’s and also our longer stay in other parts of the valley. We will surely return to Pankisi which is a beautiful and fascinating place with warm and welcoming people, several of whom we now count as friends.
Thank you Nazy and thank you Pankisi!

Entering Nazy’s guesthouse, immediately I felt an oasis of peace and calmness. Nazy is a very gentle and knowledgeable person, always willing to answer any questions you might have (I had many!) and explained a lot about her culture and history to me. The Most Gracious Home in Georgia… Nazy’s Guest House is actually the second floor of a family home in the Pankisi Valley village of Jokolo. An air of quiet refinement surrounds Nazy’s Guest House, and it truly is a guest house: if you visit you will find yourself not the renter of a room, but the guest of a gracious Kist family.
The Kists who live in the Pankisi Valley are ethnic Chechens, related to the Chechen people of Chechnya across the Caucasus Mountains. You will find the Kists of Jokolo to be warm, hospitable, generous and thoughtful, not to mention (if Nazy’s family is a representative sample) superb cooks.
Nazy, founder of the guest house, is happy to assist her guests in pursuing a variety of activities in the Pankisi Valley, or in the surrounding mountains. You can stay at the guest house. You can take a trip on horseback into the mountains. Village boys will guide you on a walking tour of the valley. Young village men will guide you in the mountains.
The area is beautiful. Nazy and her family are gracious and sophisticated hosts. You will want to respect their culture by not bringing alcohol into their family home and wearing the provided slippers when indoors.
We’ve stayed at a variety of smaller guest homes through AirBnB and Booking.com over the years, and never experienced anything quite as gracious or welcoming as Nazy’s home.
Whether you’re young and wanting to taste trekking in the Caucasus Mountains (Nazy arranges week-long horseback trips into the mountains for guests–we went on a one-day trip, nine hours on horseback, and it was unforgettable.) or simply wanting to relax in a Georgian home in an beautiful mountain valley, Nazy’s is a unique and wonderful experience.
One last note…. Though it’s optional, if you like good food you will want to eat every breakfast and dinner you can at Nazy’s rather than seeking to eat elsewhere. The Kist and Georgian cooking of Nazy’s family was the best we experienced in a month of traveling through Georgia and Turkey.

Hopefully, more and more travellers will find their way to Pankisi’s treasure. This guesthouse makes for a most enjoyable stay with its well-cared-for premises and the tasty, varied and plenty food. Thank you very much for everything. I will be back.

Thank you for having received me so warmly with my horse Davai, thank you for your hospitality, for the delicious food and nice talk we had. I was glad to discover this Pankisi little gem. I hope you might keep going like that for a long time, fighting against discrimination, fighting for this valley and its people and proving that it is a nice place.

Thank you for the great time in Jokolo. It was nice to be your guest and spend time with you and your family. One bad thing – the food was so delicious that we’re leaving the Pankisi much fatter than we have come. J We hope to visit you again soon.

Thank you for taking us in when we knocked at your door in the middle of the night!
Thank you also for your kindness, hospitality and the best pancakes we’ve had in our lives! (But also we’ll never forget the chicken stew and strawberry jam and the cheese and lentil soup…). Unfortunately, it was too cold for us to explore the mountains and swim in the river, but we hope to be back to keep discovering the nature of beautiful Pankisi.

We have been travelling for the past 161 days and we found a perfect place to rest! 13 hours of sleep sounds insane-but I assume that’s what we needed! Thanks for the hospitality, amazing food and tips about Pankisi! Thanks for giving us the contact to Raisa – so we could enjoy the experience of Zikr. Thanks for accepting us in November when no-one else could! We will recommend this place to everyone who travels to Georgia.

After arriving exhausted you and your family have shown nothing but amazing hospitality! I thoroughly enjoyed spending time, learning about the area, exchanging recipes and hearing about Chechen life. The food was absolutely amazing and I am very happy I can take some recipes back with me to Europe and Australia. Thank you for reminding me of the importance of enjoying life and more importantly, family. Please keep in touch!

I spent 2 nights here. Nazy, her family and one staff from England are very kind, open and good listener. They always made me feel at home. We enjoyed sharing a lot of things about us. Nazy’s hand made breakfast and dinner are very very delicious and not only made my empty stomach full, but also brought lots of happiness into my heart. Actually, I wish I could have stayed here for longer. Very much appreciated Nazy, her family, Gurjeet. Thanks so much for all your warm hospitality. Someday again, I’m pretty sure!

We were happy to get out of the noisy city and come visit Nazy at this wonderful little guesthouse. The highlights of the trip were the watch tower, waterfall, Nazy’s food, and of course the famous large stone! If you set to only experience one thing here , do not miss the large stone, you will know it when you see it.

I felt myself home. I supposed to stay only for one night but spent here 3 days. Just did not want to go. Thank you so much for this experience! Special thanks to Nazy’s Mom who is an excellent cook. The best food (homemade, organic) I have ever tasted in Georgia so far. We also had interesting conversations with Nazy about the community, lifestyle and of course food culture. Coming back on harvest period to learn more. My very best wishes to the whole family.

Thank you very much to Nazy and Family for an exceptional stay in Pankisi. I enjoyed every moment here. It is a beautiful, peaceful place that every visitor to Georgia should make a point of seeing. Nazy is one of the best hostess in all of Georgia (big competition!) – she is very helpful in arranging tours and giving advice, making sure that everyone is comfortable and most important – cooking excellent food. Hopefully I will be able to return to Jokolo very soon!

What can I say such an amazing place! The setting beautiful, the food good, organic, and plentiful, the local people very nice, and the weather amazing (thunderstorms at night come under amazing for me!) . As a solo traveller I was made very welcome – Nazy has been more than helpful – organising a trek with guide and horse for me up the mountain camping on a high ridge above the treeline looking out across the Caucasus. I would recommend this place to anyone…

We had a great time at Nazy’s. We stayed this beautiful guesthouse as a base for exploring Tusheti.
We were extremely grateful for Nazy’s advice and phoning around drivers and sending us to Sargiri guesthouse in Upper Omalo. Thank you for giving us such a great time in this part of the world.

We came here without knowing anything about the area, but it has been an absolute pleasure. Nazy and the family here have been so nice to us and we have had a really good time with other guests. It’s a pleasure to write the first guest entry for 2015 because I have had such a nice time here. Pankisi is a very special place and different from other parts of Georgia. The scenery, culture, people and Kist food make it so. The guesthouse you and your family have created is simply wonderful- Do not change anything! The food is delicious and I love the way you have done the bedrooms- seem to have balanced rustic and elegance. Well done and good luck.

Dear Nazy,
Thank you so much for your hospitality! This is a delightful and very interesting corner of Georgia and I wish I could come in summer to enjoy it more – hiking to Tusheti would be wonderful.
I apologise for the Bradt guide saying for so long that Pankisi was closed to tourists, and will put that right as soon as possible!
All the best,
Dear Nazy and Family,
Thank you for your kindness and hospitality! And I am so sorry to have bothered you a lot! Actually, you know, I am really shy and always worry about trivial things, but I could feel really relaxed in this guesthouse. I appreciate all of you watched over me fondly. You are my family, the most precious family in Georgia.

Dear Nazy and Family,
Thank you for hospitality. Thank you for silence. The time in Pankisi goes so slowly. We feel very relaxed! The trip to Tbatana was an experience. We did not found the lake, but we experienced wonderful time around mountains, clouds and fog. Thank you for your beautiful pictures. We dream to back again.

Dear Nazy and Family,
Thank you for making us feel at home. We had two nights and felt very relaxed. The backdrop is beautiful and even a casual walk from the guesthouse here is unforgettable. Aside from the landscape and beauty of the Pankisi valley we enjoyed amazing, home grown food for breakfast and dinner. I just wish we had more time to really switch off.
I loved the green beans! The guide was excellent too and a lot of fun.

Giorgi Omsarashvili (Georgia), September 2014
Thank you!
For having the most comfortable bed in Georgia (Luckily we did not pitch our tent in the garden…)
For supplying delicious meals (at special and ‘less’ special occasion)
For supplying nice hot shower (even during blackout)
For let us experience fresh dates (which we have tasted before)
For applying so much fresh food from the garden (which is like the garden of Eden, by the way)
For giving clear instructions for your trip to lake (even though we messed up…)
For your advice and concern while we were in dark (but beautiful) woods filled with dangerous animals (even though they maybe were not bears…)
For the great experience (your place is truly a hidden gem)
Good luck in the future! This place will not stay hidden for long!
Best Wishes,

We found a nice leaflet with useful information – ‘How to come’ – ‘How to find and prices’. Three hours later we arrived in Pankisi Valley – Jokolo and ‘Nazy’s Guesthouse’. Nazy you work seriously with your idea, and you do it perfectly right and we really hope you will have success. You have a nice family, cook delicious food, answer all our questions and are full of useful information. You are the perfect hostess. We wish you and your family all the best for the future, and thank you very much for your hospitality.

A tour (on foot or on horseback). See also the beautiful website http://nazysguesthouse.com.

We came to Nazy’s Guesthouse after a stay in Tusheti; Pankisi Valley interested us because of its unique cultural diversity; following an overview by Nazy we took a tour to explore the village and get to know the people. The stay here was very relaxing, welcoming, and we had a chance to get to know Nazy’s Family. Their hospitality is much appreciated. Food is excellent, we will remember the taste of pear jam.

We have driven from England to visit Georgia in our Overlander Vehicle. We have been welcomed by Nazy and her family very warmly. We have been offered the washing machine, showers and the most wonderful meals, so we are feeling rested and well fed after 6500kms! Nazy has been so helpful and kind and has looked after us so well. The bedrooms are spotless and comfortable, and we would recommend ‘Nazy’s Guest House’ to anyone coming to explore this beautiful country. Don’t miss the road to Omalo, it was one of the best driving experiences we have had.
